Following
their rapturously received reformation tour of 2007, James begin 2008
with a special theatre tour and the promise of a new studio album.
Despite being one of the UK’s most successful bands of all time, James
surprised even themselves when, in April of this year, their first live
dates for six years sold all 35,000 tickets in a few hours. They went on
to play high profile sets at this year’s V Festival, taking the Main
Stage by storm to one of the biggest crowds of the day just prior to
headliners The Killers and Kasabian. In addition, they played to over
100,000 in Greece and headlined festivals in Spain and Portugal in what
was a triumphant summer.
With a career that includes 10 studio albums, 20 Top 40 singles and
worldwide touring and recording success, James remain married to their
original principles of making their music their way. Never press
darlings, 2007 saw the band once again demonstrate their massive and
extremely loyal fan-base and firmly remind the world both of their
distinct importance in the UK music canon and their continued relevance
to a new generation.
Tour support act The Twang cited them as a major influence whilst new
Manchester sensations The Courteeners segue excerpts from ‘Tomorrow’
into their own songs on tour.
James are currently putting the finishing touches to their first studio
album since 2001’s ‘Pleased To Meet You’, due for release April 7th next
year and recorded over the last few months in a self built studio at a
chateau in France. These shows will be an early opportunity for fans to
hear tracks from that album following the inclusion of two new tracks,
‘Chameleon’ and ‘Who Are You?’, on this year’s ‘Fresh As A Daisy’ Best
Of compilation. With Andy Diagram back in the band in addition to the
‘Laid’ six of Tim, Jim, Larry, Saul, Mark and Dave, James are, once
again, ‘Seven’.
